General admission requirements

• At least 18 years of age as of 1 January of the year of matriculation, OR
• Have completed a minimum of 12 years of formal education beginning with Primary 1 or equivalent

• 3 H2 content-based subjects and General Paper (GP) taken in the same sitting
• A pass grade in Project Work

Meet one of the following requirements set by the Ministry of Education (MOE):

• Achieved ‘S’ grade or higher in H1 MTL or General Studies in Chinese or H2 Mother Tongue Language & Literature (MTLL) taken at ‘A’ level, or an MOE-approved MTL-in-lieu
• Pass in MTL B syllabus taken at ‘A’ level
• Scored D7 or higher in Higher MTL taken at ‘O’ level
• Have an MOE-approved MTL-exemption

A Mother Tongue subject (Chinese/Malay/Tamil) taken at a separate sitting of the GCE A-Level examination is acceptable.

H1 non-Tamil Indian Language (Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu) or H1 Foreign Language (French, German, Japanese) may be taken in lieu of MTL.

If you do not meet the MTL requirement, you may still apply to NTU. But note that if we offer you a place, you will be required to fulfil the minimum MTL requirement before you are allowed to graduate.

Some of our programmes have specific subject requirements. Check the minimum subject requirements and ‘A-Level’ cut-off grades of the programmes you wish to apply for.

For admission to LKCMedicine, you have to provide the following information, in addition to your academic results in a Health Science-related diploma:

1. Personal statement
2. Two online referee reports. One of the referees must be the applicant’s personal tutor/mentor. The online referee report is in question-and-answer format. The questions will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Instructions and login details will be provided to applicants who will, in turn, forward the login information to their referees.
3. UCAT score. You will have to register for and take the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) before applying. Only tests taken within 12 months of admission will be considered. For more details on the UCAT, please refer to www.ucat.ac.uk.

We also recommend that applicants provide details of exceptional talents and/or outstanding achievements beyond school co-curricular activities for admissions assessment.

We require direct access to your official IB Diploma transcript via the IBO. Access must be granted by:

• The application closing date of 19 March 2027 for students who sat the November 2026 or earlier exam session
• End of June for students sitting the May 2027 exam session

We will not process your application without direct access.

We encourage you to provide access before your IB results are released in January or July, by submitting your transcript requests through your school’s IB coordinators. After the results are released, your request will incur a processing fee and must be submitted directly to the IBO via the IBO request for results service.

If you are sitting for the May 2027 IB Diploma exams, you may submit your application by the closing date of 19 March 2027 and provide your final IB results within three (3) days of their official release in July 2027, except for the following programmes:

• Medicine
• Arts (Academic Discipline & Education)
• Science (Academic Disciplines & Education)

All Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents applying to NTU must fulfil one of the following minimum requirements under the Ministry of Education (MOE) mother-tongue policy:

• Obtain a grade D7 for Higher MTL at Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level
• Pass in MTL ‘B’ or a grade S for H1 MTL or H2 MTL Language and Literature or General Studies in Chinese at Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level, or an MOE-approved MTL-in-lieu*
• Pass in MTL Language A or Language B at Standard Level or Higher Level at IB Diploma, or MOE-approved MTL-in-lieu*
• Provide an MOE-approved MTL-exemption*

If you do not meet the MTL requirement, you may still apply to NTU without prejudice to your application. However, if you are offered admission and have not been granted an exemption by MOE, you will be required to fulfil the minimum MTL requirement before you can graduate.

^*For students who have been away from Singapore's school system for some years, we will submit an application for MTL-in-lieu or MTL-exemption on your behalf if you are offered admission. MOE does not accept direct applications. You will need to provide your academic transcript for the last 2 years of studies prior to university admission for MOE’s assessment.

We offer one intake per academic year, with the first term typically commencing in late July. We will consider international applicants who have completed or are sitting their national high school exams in the year of application.

If you are currently in your final year of high school with actual high school graduation/national examination results available after mid-July, you will not be eligible to apply for the Art, Design and Media programme.

Applicants from selected high school qualifications should submit one English Language Proficiency below unless specifically mentioned not required. We require that you submit your English-language proficiency scores by the stated deadline of your application window. No late submission is allowed.

We accept the following English language proficiency scores:

For IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic, C1 Advanced, and AST, only test scores obtained within two (2) years prior to the application deadline will be accepted.  SAT and ACT scores are valid for five (5) years from the test date.

An accepted English-language proficiency test is a mandatory requirement for applicants who hold or are sitting for:

• PRC Gao Kao qualification
• Taiwan General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT) qualification
• South Korean College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT)/High School Diploma (Ilbankye Kodung Hakkyo) qualification
• Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE)
• Vietnam High School Graduation Certificate
• Thailand Mathayom 6
• Indonesian Ijazah SMA
• Applicants who did not take English language in Junior and Senior High School or who have taken English language only as a second language

Mother Tongue Language (MTL) requirements

If you have previously been approved to pursue a MTL-in-lieu or are exempted from MTL, please upload the MOE approval letter to the ‘Checklist’ after you have submitted your application. If you have misplaced the letter, you must notify us when you submit your application and request a replacement from MOE Customer Service at https://www.moe.gov.sg/feedback/. Update your application with the letter once you’ve received it.
