ICC Office has submitted entries to two categories of the award in 2025. Both entries have secured a place in the 2025 Shortlist.

Nurturing Values & Ethics

The Nurturing Values and Ethics Award recognises initiatives dedicated to instilling values and ethics in education. It celebrates innovative programmes promoting integrity, empathy, and ethical decision-making. Initiatives foster respect, responsibility, and ethical leadership, inspiring positive contributions to communities.

ICC's submission to this award category, Ethics and Civics in a Multicultural World: Bridging the Gap from Theory to Practice, highlights how the course equips students with the conceptual foundations of ethics while guiding them to apply these ideas to real-world civic issues. It begins by examining the nature of ethics, its varied interpretations across cultures, and how it is expressed in social and governance institutions. Students are encouraged to critically reflect on their own assumptions and values in these areas. The course provides structured tools for engaging with diverse and often contradictory perspectives, fostering a deeper appreciation of complexity in ethical and civic discourse. Significant attention is also devoted to the study of Singapore’s own institutions and ideologies, which reflect the nation’s unique historical and geopolitical circumstances. In doing so, the course not only builds intellectual understanding but also cultivates practical civic awareness, enabling students to connect ethical theory with lived experience.

This entry has been shortlisted amongst the entries received. This recognition is a testament to NTU's commitment to innovative teaching that bridges theory and practice, equipping students with the ethical grounding and civic awareness needed to engage thoughtfully with complex societal challenges.

Sustainability Education: Literacy

The Sustainability Education Literacy Award celebrates exceptional commitment to advancing sustainability education. It recognises efforts promoting an understanding of environmental, social, and economic challenges. Recipients integrate sustainability principles across curricula, fostering interdisciplinary learning and empowering learners to become informed global citizens.

NTU’s submission spotlights how CC0006 Sustainability: Society, Economy, and Environment cultivates sustainability literacy through interdisciplinary, community-focused education and embeds sustainability literacy into the heart of the campus experience for every NTU undergraduate. Each year, over 6,000 undergraduates work in cross-disciplinary teams to address real-world sustainability challenges, co-developing solutions in partnership with the NTU Sustainability Office.

Promising projects - from tackling food waste to advancing energy conservation - are shortlisted for a University Sustainability Award and may be piloted on campus, ensuring ideas translate into direct tangible impacts.

Through a flipped classroom model and hands-on, community-focused learning, the CC0006 course cultivates critical thinking, systems awareness, and civic responsibility.

By empowering students to envision and implement change, the course transforms the campus into a living lab for sustainability, shaping a generation ready to lead a greener future.

This entry has been shortlisted amongst the entries received because it exemplifies how higher education can act as a catalyst for transformative change. By engaging thousands of students annually in interdisciplinary, action-based projects with direct impact on campus and community sustainability, NTU’s CC0006 course demonstrates innovation in pedagogy, scalability across disciplines, and measurable outcomes that extend beyond the classroom. Its integration of flipped learning, real-world problem-solving, and institutional collaboration reflects global best practices in education for sustainable development, positioning NTU as a leader in embedding sustainability literacy at scale.

Nurturing Employability

This award recognises projects that demonstrate a clear, measurable link between their educational approach and improved employability outcomes. It celebrates initiatives that enhance students’ readiness for the workforce while supporting employers in identifying the key traits and skills they value in new hires. By addressing the disconnect between employer expectations and graduate capabilities, these projects play a vital role in bridging the gap between education and employment, ensuring stronger alignment and better-prepared graduates.

ICC and NTU's Career and Attachment Office's (CAO) joint submission to this award category, the NTUniverse Career Simulation Game, is an innovative experiential learning platform designed to prepare students for the demands of an ever-evolving job market. By immersing students in realistic, decision-based scenarios, the game transforms career planning into an engaging and reflective process, allowing learners to actively explore and shape their professional trajectories.

Inspired by the Designing Your Life framework, the game promotes essential career competencies such as adaptability, lifelong learning, and the alignment of personal values with career goals. Through a combination of practical tools and real-world insights, NTUniverse empowers students to better understand themselves, gain clarity about the world of work, and build the confidence and resilience needed to manage their careers effectively. It positions students not just as job seekers, but as future-ready, purpose-driven change-makers.

This entry was recognised as a Bronze Winner at the QS Reimagine Education Awards, in recognition of its impactful contribution to nurturing employability.
