NTU Singapore received Singapore's highest skills award for employers at the SkillsFuture Employer Awards Ceremony today (10 Dec).

Presented by the President of the Republic of Singapore, the SkillsFuture Employer Awards is the nation’s highest skills award that honours exemplary organisations that champion employees’ skills development and build a lifelong learning culture at the workplace.

NTU President Professor Subra Suresh accepted the Award on behalf of the University from Education Minister Chan Chun Sing at the awards ceremony, held at Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

NTU is Singapore’s first university to receive the SkillsFuture Employer Awards. NTU was recognised for fostering a strong learning culture at its workplace through robust learning and development system and initiatives.

Professor Subra Suresh, NTU President, said “We are proud to be the first university in Singapore to receive the SkillsFuture Employers Award. At NTU, we are firmly committed to providing opportunities that motivate our employees to upskill and reskill at the workplace, and to invest in technology as well as nurture a learning culture that prepares them for market disruption, innovation and growth. These efforts are also in line with the NTU 2025 strategic plan to enhance excellence across the University by fostering an engaged and high performing workforce.”

Conducting annual learning needs analysis, ensuring on-the-job training and establishing learning roadmaps are among the University's many efforts to help employees develop and grow in their careers. Over 3,000 NTU employees have attended more than 3,800 SkillsFuture-supported courses. The University has also made available more than 56,000 digital learning resources to its employees to encourage learning at the workplace.

To date, grants of more than $600,000 have been placed under NTU's training budget for learning and development initiatives to benefit its employees.
