Ms Jennie Chua

Ms Jennie Chua is an esteemed figure in Singapore’s public service sector and is a well-known icon of the hospitality industry.
She is currently the chairman of Temasek Foundation. Under her leadership, Temasek Foundation has further enhanced its philanthropic outreach, drawing on her extensive experience. In recognition of her contributions in many fields of public service from arts to healthcare, she was awarded the Distinguished Service Order as part of the National Day Awards 2024.
Ms Chua has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, having helmed prestigious brands such as The Ascott Group, Raffles Holdings and Swissotel, and breaking through the glass ceiling by being the Raffles Hotel’s first Singaporean and female general manager in 1990. She also became the first woman in 2009 to chair the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce in its 172-year history. She is Singapore’s non-resident ambassador (NRA) to the Kingdom of Spain and has served as NRA to the United Mexican States and NRA to Slovakia. She was the chairman of the Community Chest from 2000 to 2013 and is now its adviser.
Ms Chua has been the University’s Pro-Chancellor since 2017. She is also Trustee Emeritus of NTU. She served on NTU's Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2014 and, during this time, also chaired the Alumni and Development Committee of the Board. In 2006, she served on the fundraising committees that raised more than $27 million for the Wee Kim Wee Legacy Fund and in 2011, $150 million for the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Her earlier engagements with NTU include being a member of NTU's MBA (Hospitality & Tourism Management) Advisory Committee from Academic Year 1993/1994 to 1995/1996.
