NTU Singapore scientists named among world’s most influential researchers

For their significant influence across a broad range of disciplines, 33 scientists from NTU Singapore have been recognised among the world’s most influential researchers this year.
The Highly Cited Researchers list by Clarivate, a United Kingdom-based data analytics company, identifies and celebrates the world’s most influential scientists for their impact on the research community, based on the rate at which their work has been cited by others over the last decade.
According to Clarivate, only one in 1,000 scientists and social scientists worldwide achieves this distinction.
This year, 33 NTU scientists account for 36 mentions on the list.
Among them are senior University leaders Prof Joseph Sung, Senior Vice President (Health and Life Sciences) and Dean of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine; Prof Lee Pooi See, Vice President (International Engagement); and Prof Warren Chan, Dean of the College of Engineering.
Also on the list is Prof Pu Kanyi, who is recognised for his work in three areas: biology and biochemistry, chemistry, and materials science.
Prof Pu, Associate Dean (Research) at NTU’s College of Engineering, is among only 31 scientists globally recognised for their contributions in three or more research areas.
His research covers molecular imaging and chemical biology, including the development of tools made of biochemicals for disease diagnosis and medical therapy.
In addition, Assoc Prof Yuen Chau from the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering is recognised for his work in computer science and engineering. He is among 227 scientists globally to be recognised in two research areas.
