NTU Trees: Upcycled

Date: 27 June 2016 - 4 November 2016
Venue: Experimental Medicine Building, L3, Collaboration Space

This exhibition showcases Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) support for earth sustainability initiatives. The upcycling and repurposing of NTU trees that were felled to make way for the facility development on campus was one. NTU Trees: Upcycled tells the story of our journey to repurpose our trees, giving them a new lease of life by turning them into unique, beautiful and functional works of art and objects. It was a journey taken to bring about a revival and renewal of these trees, re-establish its place and relationship with nature and environment, and rekindle its connectivity with the campus community.

A collaborative project between NTU Museum and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, this exhibition gathers together the works of NTU staff, faculty, students and external artists and designers. Through their creativity, experiments and hard work, the trees were transformed into beautiful objects. We hope to raise awareness of the potential uses of our local trees, and be inspired by the possibilities of such endeavour.
