Youngest in the global top 12
NTU climbs three spots to 12th in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking of the world’s best universities
NTU has climbed to 12th, up from 15th last year, securing its place among the world’s premier universities.
In the latest QS World University Rankings, it is also the youngest university in the top dozen, standing shoulder to shoulder with institutions that have centuries of history.
The QS World University Rankings is one of the most widely referenced international benchmarks used by students, academics and institutions alike.

NTU strengthened its global standing this year with improved scores in employer and academic reputation, high research impact, and a perfect score for international faculty.
What’s driving NTU’s continued ascent in the global league?
At just 34 years old, NTU has already become a powerhouse of innovation and impact, unbound by tradition and unafraid to disrupt. Its vibrant, smart campus serves as a living laboratory, where future-focused ideas come to life.
“NTU’s strong showing in this year’s QS rankings reflects its constant efforts to reimagine itself amidst a rapidly changing world,” says NTU President Prof Ho Teck Hua.
“For example, last year we launched the College of Computing & Data Science to better prepare students for the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. This year, we introduced the NTU Honours College, which empowers students to harness technology for the good of society.”
Aligned with its commitment to research and academic excellence, NTU has been actively recruiting top global talent.
Prof Ho explains: “We continuously strengthen our faculty by bringing in exceptional early-career academics through the Nanyang Assistant Professorship programme, and by attracting renowned scholars worldwide, seizing opportunities as they arise.”
The University’s performance was affirmed by QS Senior Vice President Ben Sowter:
“NTU’s continued rise in the global rankings reflects its remarkable ability to combine academic excellence with cutting-edge research and a strong commitment to innovation. The University stands out for its future-oriented approach, from pioneering work in sustainability and smart technologies to its deep collaborations with industry and government.”
NTU’s global reputation is further reinforced in the latest QS subject rankings, where the University leads Singapore with 43 ranked disciplines. Six NTU subjects – including materials science, communication and media studies, and data science and AI – are ranked among the global top five and No. 1 in Asia.
