One thing I want to do before I graduate

What’s on your uni to-do list? NTU students share what they hope to tick off before graduation

Make a fun reel with my prof

“I started creating content about my life in Singapore so my family overseas could see how I was doing. As an NTU undergrad, my videos naturally became a way to document student life, from friendships to the funny campus moments that bring people together.

I didn’t expect my NTU ‘Ultraman’ skits to go viral. I’m really grateful for the support and hope the clips help my peers destress. I plan to keep creating them as keepsakes of my university years. And I’d like to convince a few professors to star in a reel!”

Tan Pei Yu, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Year 2

Start an art hunt in NTU

“Sketching taught me to notice the little things that make NTU special. When I first arrived on campus, I started carrying my watercolour set and sketchbook around, painting whatever caught my eye during study breaks.

Over the years, I’ve filled sketchbooks with scenes from campus. I also had the chance to sketch portraits at NTU’s Open House and CCA carnival.

I’d even walk back to hall, instead of taking the bus, to soak in the blue skies and greenery that inspired many of my paintings. As a final project before graduation, I’m hiding some of my artworks around campus for others to find and keep. It’s my way of leaving behind a little surprise for the people who made NTU feel like home.”

Pull off a five-course meal in hall

“Before I graduate, I want to whip up a feast in the hall pantry. With so many food options on campus (Canteen 14 is goated), I rarely cook, but I’d love to prepare a few international dishes – and perfect my egg fried rice – for my friends from the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences club, where I was a house captain. We’ve worked hard and played hard together, and a home-cooked meal feels like the perfect way to celebrate the friendships we’ve built.”

Darius Toh, Mathematics, Year 3

Explore varsity sports and my limits

“NTU has given me the chance to try everything from volleyball and salsa to boxing and live music. Along the way, I’ve met like-minded friends and learnt more about what my body can do.

I’ve also been amazed by the passion and camaraderie of NTU’s student-led boxing community. Many of its members started out as complete beginners, yet they keep showing up, supporting one another and pushing themselves to improve.

Unfortunately, I’m hypermobile and quite prone to injuries. After sustaining a few strains and fractures last year, I had to take a break from combat sports. But I hope to step back into the ring before I graduate, building strength while learning to work with my body’s limits.”

Dance at iconic campus spots with my friends

“My friends and I plan to film dance videos at places like Yunnan Garden, North Spine and the foyer of my college, where we often study and chat late into the night. I love movement. I’m involved in dance clubs like Bollyhop and contemporary dance, and I have a list of choreographies, dance trends and concepts I want to try around NTU.

Between research, class and extracurriculars, life can get pretty packed. Making these reels is my chance to let loose, have fun and make memories with uni mates. I want to move ideas from my ‘saved’ folder to reality while I still have the chance.”

Nandini Aggarwal, Psychology, Year 3
