    Venue: Nanyang Technological University

    Registration is closed.

This course will cover the following areas:
1. Shear strength of soil: Mohr circles, drained and undrained strength, clay, sand, direct shear tests, triaxial compression test.
2. Limit equilibrium and earth pressure theory: at-rest earth pressure, active and passive pressure, effect of seepage.
3. Slope stability: drained and undrained analysis, infinite slopes, method of slices, slope stabilization, field performance monitoring.
4. Soil improvement: objectives and overview, shallow surface compaction, deep densification, deep stabilization.
This Specialist Certificate will enable NTU's Environmental Engineering graduates to apply for registration as Professional Engineers (Civil), if other requirements (4 years of relevant practical experience in engineering, FEE & PPEE examinations, interview) are also fulfilled.
