Introduction
Core Module 2 (CM2): Carbon Accounting Fundamentals is an intensive 3-day course designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to measure and manage carbon emissions. The course provides a deep dive into the science of climate change, the role of engineers in mitigation, and the methodologies for categorizing and managing emissions. Participants will also explore emerging technologies and digital tools for sustainability, and learn how to prepare comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to support decarbonization targets and reporting.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the basics of climate change and the role of engineers in mitigation and adaptation.
- Measure and manage carbon footprints, and implement carbon offsetting and reduction strategies.
- Prepare detailed GHG inventories and apply carbon accounting frameworks for reporting.
- Utilize cutting-edge technologies and digital tools in sustainability projects.
- Manage innovation effectively in engineering projects, with an understanding of successful case studies.
This course is suitable for:
- Engineers who plan to register for the CEng (Sustainability) certification with IES Chartered Engineering Board.
- Engineers working or intending to work in the real estate, built environment, environmental, logistics, energy, manufacturing and related industries.
- Engineers who purely for the purpose of enhancing their skills and knowledge in sustainability.
