Zhou Joey

Joey is an Associate Professor Practice in Insurance, Actuarial Science and Risk Management, at Nanyang Business School, NTU, Singapore. He is a fully qualified actuary and certified financial risk manager with nearly two decades of experience in insurance, reinsurance, and public sectors. Before he transitioned to academia, Joey held key roles across various functions within the insurance value chain, including actuarial services, product development, distribution, business management, and marketing.

Low An Chee Angie

Dr. Angie Low is currently an Associate Professor of Finance at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and a fellow of the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economics Research. She received her Ph.D. in Finance from Ohio State University. Angie's current research interests include corporate governance, managerial compensation, corporate culture, and corporate social responsibility. Her research has been published in leading journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies. She has received several best paper awards at leading international conferences and was awarded the Banking and Finance Division’s Research Excellence Award in 2010 and 2015. Her research is also featured in several media such as The Economists, Forbes, Bloomberg Businessweek, Harvard Business Review, Singapore Institute of Directors Quarterly Bulletin, etc. Angie teaches courses on corporate finance at the undergraduate level and graduate. She is passionate about teaching and was a recipient of the NBS’ divisional Teaching Excellence Award in 2016 and 2021.

Chang Xin Simba

Xin CHANG is a Professor of Finance, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Finance and Innovation (CSFI), and the Associate Dean (Research) overseeing PhD programs and research activities at Nanyang Business School. From 2015 to 2017, He was a tenured University Reader in Financial Economics at Cambridge Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge, J M Keynes Fellow in Financial Economics, a Fellow of Darwin College, and a Research Fellow of Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance. From 2004 to 2008, he was a Lecturer and then tenured Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Melbourne in Australia. He specializes in corporate finance, especially sustainable finance, capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, and stock valuation. He taught various courses to undergraduate, honors, master, and PhD students at HKUST, the University of Melbourne, the University of Cambridge, and NTU. Xin was awarded the Dean's Award for Research Excellence in 2006 and the Dean's Certificate for Excellence in Teaching in 2007 at the University of Melbourne. At NTU, he was the Researcher of the Year for the Division of Banking and Finance in 2009, the MBA Teacher of the Year in 2011, and the Teacher of the Year for the Division of Banking and Finance in 2013. He also won the Peter Brownell Award for Best Publication in Accounting and Finance in 2007, the Best Paper awards at the 16th SFM Conference in 2008, the 19th SFM Conference in 2011, the 4th World Business Ethics Forum in 2012, and TCFA's (The Chinese Finance Association) best paper award on corporate finance. He received the inaugural Best PhD Supervisor Award (the Graduate College Mentoring Award) from NTU in 2020. Xin earned his Ph.D. in Finance in 2004 from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). His educational background also includes a Master's degree from the PBC School of Finance and a Bachelor's degree from the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University.

Dearth Matthew Louis

Dr. Matthew Dearth is Associate Professor (Practice) of Sustainable Finance at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Before transitioning to academia full time, Dr. Dearth was Managing Director at Silvercrest Asset Management (Singapore) and head of the Singapore office. His 30+ years of finance industry experience also includes leadership roles at Marshall Wace, Goldman Sachs, and Booz Allen & Hamilton. From 2016 to 2023, Dr. Dearth taught postgraduate finance courses at Singapore Management University in subjects such as sustainable investing, alternative investments and asset management. He was recognized on the Dean’s Teaching Honor List for Top Adjunct Faculty (Postgrad) from 2019-2022. In the fall of 2023, Dr. Dearth joined NTU full-time where he teaches undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive courses in sustainable finance, and is a member of the academic advisory committee for the Centre for Sustainable Finance Innovation. He is a co-author of “Getting Started in Alternative Investments” (Wiley, 2023) and has published multiple case studies on investment management topics. Dr. Dearth holds a PhD (General Management) from Singapore Management University, an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Operations Research from Princeton University.

Lee Daniel

Lee Daniel

Daniel is Associate Professor (Practice) in Carbon Markets at the Nanyang Business School. Before transitioning to academia full-time, he spent close to 18 years in industry where he undertook a variety of roles across the Energy and Decarbonization value chains, including Commodity Trading, Acquisitions & Divestments, and Capital Project Delivery. Previous adjunct teaching appointments include Shell's in-house Advanced Negotiation Program; Integrated Gas Agreements Course; and leading the delivery of its Natural Gas Course. He has lived and worked in the UK and Singapore whilst leading negotiations/projects in various jurisdictions such as Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan and Thailand. Within the context of Carbon Markets, he first began work in 2009 by establishing Shell's Carbon Trading desk in Singapore for compliance markets in Australia and New Zealand. In 2018, he moved upstream and led several initiatives to establish nature-based carbon projects in South-East Asia, primarily focused on forest conservation. Subsequently in 2021, as part of the management team, he helped to setup Climate Impact X, a Singapore-based voluntary carbon markets exchange focused on serving corporate clients globally, where he led the successful delivery of a landmark auction program for blue carbon. His current teaching focus areas include both the topics of Climate Risk and Carbon Markets, which he delivers at the Undergraduate, Post-Graduate and Executive Education levels respectively.
