Introduction
This course focuses on linking of various forms of multi-modal operations to support sea transport. Learners will also be exposed to the challenges, and possible solutions to recent disruptions to global trade. They will become familiar with the air cargo markets, players in the industry, models of operation, opportunities and challenges, and processes of handling regular and specialized cargo. This course will also apprise learners of emerging concepts of multi-modal transportation, including ocean freight. Learners will examine the enhanced role of inter-modal transportation systems, carrier characteristics, carrier pricing, carrier selection and transportation cost. After attending this course, learners will have the skills to better design the multi-modal transport networks of their organisations.This course is credit-bearing (3AU) and stackable to:
- Graduate Certificate in Smart Supply Chain Management (9 AU)
- FlexiMasters in Smart Supply Chain Management (15 AU)
- Master of Science in Supply Chain Engineering (30 AU)
With a minimum Grade Point of 2.5 (which is equivalent to a letter grade of C+) achieved for each course.
Learners will receive their Statement of Accomplishment (for a grade of D and above) or Certificate of Participation for each course—dependent upon their assessment performance.
Note: The FlexiMasters in Smart Supply Chain Management will be suspended after AY2026/27. Jan 2027 will be the last run of the course.
Please note that Jan 2027 will be the last run of the course, with no new intakes offered thereafter. Learners who are unable to complete the FlexiMasters by AY2026/27 will not be able to continue with the FlexiMasters programme, regardless of reasons quoted. Credits earned are only eligible for transfer to the MSc in Supply Chain Engineering (MAE) and not any other FlexiMasters programmes.
