Introduction
This course provides an in-depth overview of structural systems used in basement and tunneling design, focusing on soil considerations, construction planning, and safety precautions. Learners will develop skills in designing temporary supports, selecting appropriate equipment, and sequencing construction activities for projects like dredging and land reclamation. The course introduces advanced technologies such as DfMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) and BIM (Building Information Modeling) software to improve productivity and operational efficiency. Designed for intermediate learners in civil engineering and construction, this course enhances career prospects by equipping learners with the latest industry skills for project management, design, and technology integration. This course is credit-bearing (3 AU) and stackable to:
- Graduate Certificate in Construction Management (9 AU)
- FlexiMasters in Construction Management (15 AU)
- Master of Science in International Construction Management (30 AU)
Learners will receive their Statement of Accomplishment (for a grade of D and above) or Certificate of Participation for this course—dependent upon their assessment performance.
This course is part of the FlexiMasters in Construction Management.
