Outstanding alumni honoured for their achievements

Seventy-one NTU Singapore alumni were honoured for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the University and to society at an awards ceremony this year.

Among the recipients of the Nanyang Distinguished Alumni Award – the highest honour bestowed on the University’s alumni – were Indonesia’s Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian and renowned local calligrapher Professor Tan Siah Kwee.

The Nanyang Alumni Awards ceremony, an annual affair to recognise alumni from diverse fields who have done the University proud, was postponed last year due to the restriction on large-scale events implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. A virtual celebration was held in October to mark the occasion.

Following last year’s postponement due to the pandemic, this year’s ceremony honours winners from both 2020 and 2021.

Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education, presented the awards to the winners at the Nanyang Auditorium this evening.
