NTU breaks into the top 50 in US News & World Report Global Universities Rankings

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) continues to rise in the global league tables, moving up 6 spots to 49th place and taking the top 5 spots in four subjects in the latest US News & World Report Global Universities Rankings.

The four subjects are Materials Science (No. 1), Chemistry (No. 2), Computer Science (No. 2) and Engineering (No. 5). For the second consecutive year, NTU tops the global table for Materials Science, and is placed second in Chemistry. NTU’s Computer Science climbs one spot to No. 2, while Engineering is ranked No. 5 internationally.

Among Asian universities, NTU is placed No. 1 for Materials Science and Chemistry, No. 2 for Computer Science, and third for Engineering.

These are among the key areas shaping the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Earlier this year, NTU announced its vision to be a Smart Campus that harnesses the power of digital technology and tech-enabled solutions to support better learning and living experiences, the discovery of new knowledge, and the sustainability of resources.

NTU has vaulted 76 places from the 125th spot since the US News & World Report global rankings began five years ago. Its overall rank improvement was contributed by its strong global research reputation and percentage of total publications with international collaboration that jumped 14 places and 20 places respectively.
