Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences (Accelerated Bachelor Programme)

Single Degree

Programme Type

Full-time

The Accelerated Bachelor Programme is designed to provide academically proficient students with an opportunity to complete their programme requirements within 3.5 years (i.e. 1 semester earlier than the normal candidature). This programme is offered to students strictly by invitation.

The study of biology is highly relevant to everyday life. At some point, we discovered that we are fascinated by living systems. As the knowledge base in the biological sciences grows exponentially and technology becomes ever more sophisticated, the ability to think broadly about biology and to apply your knowledge across boundaries of disciplines will inevitably become a very valuable and powerful asset both in the scientific environment and many walks of life.
The Accelerated B.Sc.(Hons) programme allows top Biological Sciences students to graduate in 3.5 years instead of 4 years.

Students may be invited, via e-mail, to join the ABP if they fulfill the following conditions:

  1. Achieved a minimum CGPA of 4.5 at the end of first year i.e. after 2 semesters
  2. Accumulated at least 34 AUs at the end of first year.

Please take note of the following requirements:

  • ABP students need to overload every semester. The workload is substantially heavier than other students who are taking 4 years to complete the programme.
  • ABP students who are unable to maintain good performance throughout the course of study (minimum CGPA of 4.00) are encouraged to drop from the programme.
  • ABP students who do not plan their curriculum and timetables properly, and hence are unable to fulfill their graduation requirements in 3.5 years, will be dropped from the programme.
  • There will be no penalty imposed at any point of time should you wish to withdraw from the ABP.

The Accelerated B.Sc.(Hons) programme allows top Biological Sciences students to graduate in 3.5 years instead of 4 years.
