The Bachelor of Computing (Hons) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) with a Second Major in Sustainability is an interdisciplinary programme at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The DSAI component is jointly offered by the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) and the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), while the Second Major in Sustainability is offered through the Asian School of the Environment (ASE). This powerful combination equips students with advanced skills in data analysis and AI development alongside a comprehensive understanding of global sustainability challenges. 

This programme lies in its potent interdisciplinary approach, which merges advanced training in data science and AI with a deep, holistic understanding of global sustainability, preparing graduates to use technology to solve pressing societal and environmental challenges. This collaboration between the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS), the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), and the Asian School of the Environment (ASE) ensures a strong mathematical foundation alongside the study of sustainability's interconnected pillars: People, Planet, Profit, Practice, and Policy. The curriculum emphasises responsible AI development, ethical considerations, and practical applications, enabling students to tackle real-world problems through hands-on projects and industry experiences. As a result, graduates are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between technological innovation and sustainable practice, driving responsible and impactful change across various sectors. 

Applicants must meet NTU’s undergraduate admissions criteria, which include: 

  • Good academic results in GCE ‘A’ Levels, IB Diploma, NUS High School Diploma, or Polytechnic Diploma (or equivalent) 
  • strong foundation in Mathematics

Programmes are structured as full-time, 4-year direct honours degrees. Students undertake core modules, electives, interdisciplinary courses, and capstone projects. 

The curriculum includes core computing modules, electives, and interdisciplinary opportunities. It balances theory with applied practice to prepare graduates for diverse careers.

Opportunities in the corporate and technology sectors include Environmental Data Scientist and ESG Data Analyst.
