Congratulations on receiving the grant! This document provides instructions to submit requests for project variations.
Requests for variations, including budget virement, project extension, changes to project scope, or changes in PI or Co-PI, must be submitted through RISE (https://fibi.ntu.edu.sg/fibi-ntu).
For information on how to submit a report, navigate to ServiceNow -> Learn Something -> Research Services -> RISE Resources -> ‘Training Slides for Principal Investigators (Project Variation)’. (2FA login may be required to access RISE)
Note: This document includes only four types of variation requests that can be made via RISE, as additional information is required by the EdeX Grant Administrator to process these requests. For all other requests, please refer to the training slides.
All information is treated with confidence. The information is furnished to the University with the understanding that it shall be used or disclosed for evaluation, reference and reporting purposes.

Project Variation Request
The relevant sections must be completed and submitted via Research Information SystEm (RISE) (fibi.ntu.edu.sg). These requests should include justifications and are to be accompanied by evidence of satisfactory progress.
Only relevant forms on specific requests need to be completed and attached for submission. Please remove the sections of the forms that are not relevant in your final submission.
Requests for change(s) to project should be endorsed by the Director of CTLP.
Budget variation request: Requests for budget variation without change in the total project value and without change in objectives, should be endorsed by the Director of CTLP. Please note that NO expenditure is permitted until formal approval has been given by the Director of CTLP.
Requests for project extension should be made only in the expected final year of project duration. A maximum extension of 6 months is allowed. If more time is needed, please discuss with the grant administrator. PI must submit a progress report and obtain approval from the EdeX Grant Administrator before the extension request can be processed. All requests should be endorsed by the Director of CTLP, and reach the EdeX Grant Administrator (EdeXGrant@ntu.edu.sg) at least 3 months before project end date.
Requests for project termination/lapse should be made within a reasonable timeframe. The PI should work with CTLP Grant Administrator to explore all possible options to bring the project to proper completion (eg. change in PI) before consideration of termination/lapse of project.
Please ensure that your request is duly completed and endorsed.
The deadline for grant variation is the first Monday of each calendar month.
