No. Start and end date are sacrosanct. Students need to be available for the entire duration of the fellowship. 

You will be issued a Student Pass.

This is subject to approval from your Project Supervisor and the Global Connect Office. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis for reasons such as exam, thesis defense etc.

Academic Referee Letters are optional

No, there is no option to extend the fellowship beyond the normal stated duration. 

Fellows will be undertaking research on projects listed in the application portal.

Selection is based on merit, not necessarily on the number of published papers or prior experience. 

NTU Halls of Residence are not separated by gender. However, men and women reside on different floors.

No, an English proficiency certificate is not required. 

No, only students currently undertaking a degree (Bachelor or Masters) at their home institution, are eligible under this fellowship scheme.

Yes, you are free to apply to projects from other departments.

No, you must have a valid passport. 

Some project supervisors may interview you.

No, there is no minimum GPA requirement. 

No, GRE and TOEFL are not required. 

Global Connect Fellows get a stipend of SGD 5,000 and fully paid on-campus housing. 

You will receive SGD 2,000 by way of settling-in award in the first month of your fellowship after you arrive in Singapore and NTU. This will be followed by an additional Fellowship of SGD 1,500 per month i.e. SGD 3,000 in the second month, to cover your living expenses.

The GCF award is expected to cover visa, registration, miscellaneous fees, flight cost, etc. as well as living expenses (food and other expenses) during your time in Singapore. 

No, housing does not include food. However, there are many dining options available on campus. More information can be found here. You are expected to cover food expenses from the living allowance.
