NTU holds 18th China Convocation
NTU Singapore held its 18th China Convocation in Shanghai on 19 September, with more than 300 graduates attending the ceremony. Since 2006, NTU has hosted China Convocation ceremonies in cities across the country for students from seven of its postgraduate programmes.
In addition, 10 participants successfully completed the Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellowship, which supports leaders in Singapore and China in their professional advancement and personal development to address the cultural, business and communal needs for the two countries.
In his Convocation address, NTU Deputy President and Provost Professor Christian Wolfrum encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning in the age of AI. He said: “Do not treat your degree as a finished qualification. Treat it as a foundation that needs continuous reinforcement. Five years from now, you will be working with tools that do not yet exist, on problems that have not yet been defined. The question is whether you will be the person who shapes that work or the person who is displaced by it. The difference will come down to whether you kept learning.”
