SG60 food poll: The treats we want to last another 60 years
Some bites just taste like home. As Singapore celebrates her 60th birthday, HEY! polled over 2,000 foodies from the NTU community on Instagram and Telegram to find out which local treats they hope future students will continue to enjoy

HEY! SG60 poll: “If you could only pick one, which beloved local treat should be passed on to future generations of foodies?”
POLL 1: MAINS

Winner winner chicken (rice) dinner! Rumour has it that Hall 2’s canteen serves the best plate in NTU. Disagree? Email us at [email protected].
POLL 2: ICE-COLD NOSTALGIA

Any NTU student
with biz savvy want
to make our nostalgic
dreams come true
on campus?
POLL 3: CRUNCHY SNACKS

Do you eat the sugary top
of the gem biscuit first
or last? Get your fix from
Prime Supermarket at the
North Spine.
POLL 4: RETRO DRINKS

A little bird told us that
the Milo from the Hall
11 canteen is top-tier.
POLL 5: WARM SNACKS
It was a wafer-thin win! Just 6% more NTU foodies chose pandan waffles – a comforting midday snack for many students – over the humble curry puff.

NTU loves pandan waffles. Just look at the long queues at the North Spine bakery around 3pm. Others swear by the waffle aunty at the Hall 11 canteen. Wherever you go to get yours, don’t forget to ask for the waffle to be “extra crispy” to keep that crunch game strong.
These results are based on 10,525 votes collected through polls run on Instagram (@ntu_sg) and the NTU HEY! Telegram channel in June 2025.
