Asian School of the Environment (ASE) Freshmen Orientation Programme

ASE’s official freshmen orientation programme is organised by the school and includes the following:

• Welcome talk
• Curriculum talk
• Code of Conduct talk
• Bonding activities
• Swim test (see the timetable for details)
• Senior sharings

This program is strongly recommended for freshmen as it includes many important briefings and admission procedures such as the collection of matriculation cards.

This year’s theme is Odyssey - a long, eventful and adventurous journey. The story of Odyssey begins with five nomadic clans, each of which is a legacy of a legendary explorer. With the spirit and wisdom of Tarzan, Tintin, Dora, Indiana Jones, and John Sparrow (the moral brother of Captain Jack Sparrow), the five clans have been migrating from land to land, riding on the regular patterns of rain and sunshine to raise crops and livestock. However, their lifestyle is now disrupted by the climate that has grown unpredictable. Prolonged droughts desiccated their crops, while storms and floods tore down their homes. Worse still, their land is slowly being devoured by the rising seas.

Knowing no alternative, the five clans left their homeland and set sail for an island that has been rumoured to have a climate so mild and land so fertile. How will fate ultimately pan out for the five clans? Will the five clans flourish once again in the strange, distant land?
