Information for Guests

Admission for Guests

Each attending graduate can invite 2 guests to attend the ceremony and may ballot for an additional invite if required.

Graduates and guests are advised to arrive at the Nanyang Auditorium one hour before the start of the Ceremony. As the registration counters for guests are at a separate area, guests are reminded to bring the QR codes sent to the graduates and show them at the registration counters.

Once registered, a wristband will be issued to you. Please wear the wristband and follow the directions of the usher to the nearest available seats. Ushers will direct you to level 2 once the stall seats are filled up.

Additional guests without a ticket are welcome to view the ceremony from the Viewing Gallery at the foyer, where it will be live-streamed. Seating in the Viewing Gallery is on a first-come, first-served basis. We seek your kind understanding that access to the theatre and reception can be extended only to guests holding a valid ticket.

Infants and Children below 6 years old

Due to the formal nature and length of the ceremony, infants in arms and children below 6 years old will not be admitted into the theatre. They will be seated with their accompanying adult in the viewing gallery on a first-come, first-served basis.

Strollers must be placed in the item deposit area. They will not be allowed into the Auditorium.

Dress Code and Behaviour

Guests should be properly attired in business wear, smart casual wear, or traditional dress. Please avoid inappropriate attire, such as singlets, shorts, slippers, and clothing with inappropriate words or images.

Guests should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner that demonstrates respect towards the graduates, other guests, and the speakers on stage.  There will be zero tolerance for inappropriate or disruptive behaviour.  This includes and is not limited to taking ‘selfies’ or ‘wefies’ on stage, stunts or disruptions.  Anyone who disrupts or interferes with the ceremony will be subject to removal from the Auditorium.

Mobile devices are to be switched off or set to silent mode during the ceremony.

Accessibility Needs and First Aid

Please inform us as soon as you can if you need to reserve a wheelchair bay for a guest. Each wheelchair bay has a seat for one carer. Do note that NTU does not have any wheelchairs for hire.

Graduates and guests requiring first aid will be directed to the Raffles Medical Centre @ University Health Service Building for treatment.

Seating Arrangement

Guests must be seated in the theatre at least 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

Seating for guests will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Kindly ensure that all members of your group are present before entering the auditorium, as seat reservations are not allowed.

As the convocation is a solemn occasion, guests are requested to remain in their seats throughout the ceremony and to refrain from leaving the auditorium during the ceremony.

Photo Taking

During the convocation ceremony, guests must not leave their seats to take photographs, so as to avoid obstruction to the graduates as they move up the stage and back to their seats. Orders for on-stage close-up shots may be placed with the official photographer.

At the end of the ceremony, graduates and guests would be requested to leave the auditorium in stages. Please follow the instructions from the ushers.
