Chip that quantifies air pollutants accurately

Chip that detect sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide

Climate change and environmental pollution are among the biggest threats facing humanity today. To mitigate these challenges, it is important to monitor pollutants from industrial and vehicle exhaust.

A chip developed by researchers led by Prof Ling Xing Yi of NTU's School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology may aid in the monitoring of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.

Using a technology called surface-enhanced Raman scattering, the chip is able to accurately and rapidly quantify the gases in vehicle exhaust.
