CIFAL Singapore
International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders
CIFAL stands for "Centre International de Formation des Autorités et Leaders" (in French), and "Centro Internacional de Formación para Autoridades y Líderes" (in Spanish).
The CIFAL Global Network is composed of 32 International Training Centres for Authorities and Leaders, all coordinated by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)’s Social Development Programme. The strategic locations of the 32 centres, which can be found across Asia, Oceania, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean ensure a global outreach. Each CIFAL centre provides innovative training and serves as a hub for the exchange of knowledge amongst government officials, the private sector, and civil society.
CIFAL Singapore was established in 2023 and is the first such centre in Singapore to be affiliated with the United Nations’ principal training arm and sited at NTU Singapore. The Centre aims to strengthen the ability of individuals, institutions, and societies in the Asia Pacific countries to perform functions, solve problems, and set and achieve objectives sustainably, thus encouraging sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region.
CIFAL Singapore partners with the NTU Sustainability Office to reach out to external stakeholders to curate customised education modules to suit their needs. It is in keeping with the UNITAR CIFAL Global Networks’ main agenda to develop and strengthen human capacities to better respond to development challenges and to facilitate City-to-City (C2C) partnerships.

Welcome to CIFAL Singapore, a leading center for sustainable development training and capacity building, hosted by the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU). At CIFAL Singapore, our mission is to empower individuals, organisations, and communities to achieve the UN sustainable development goals through innovative training programs and impactful partnerships. We are proud to be affiliated with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and to be working in collaboration with them to advance the global sustainable development agenda in Singapore and throughout the region.
CIFAL Singapore partners with Schools, Centers and Programs within NTU and beyond to deliver education and training programs that are designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to address the complexity posed by society’s greatest sustainability challenges.
