Cancellation / Surrender of Student's Pass

1.Students who have been conferred their degrees

NTU will cancel your Student's Pass (STP) within 7 days of your conferment. You will receive 2 emails via your NTU email account, from File SG and ICA.

 

First email from FileSG

Notification that your STP has been cancelled

Second email from ICA

(Sent by next working day after receiving the first email)

Contains a link to the STP cancellation notice.

Students who are in Singapore at the point of STP cancellation will be issued with the Short-Term Visit Pass (STVP) in the cancellation notice. The duration of STVP issued is determined by ICA.

Note: Students who intend to leave and return to Singapore in July for Convocation may refer to the table below:

Students from Visa required countries/regions
  • You need to self-cancel your STP 30 days before you return to Singapore via ICA e-services portal and select “Cancellation of Student’s Pass”. Guide on how to apply for cancellation of Student’s Pass online can be downloaded HERE.

All other students
  • Enter Singapore as a tourist which is subjected to immigration clearance
 


2.

Graduating Students

a. whose STP expiry date is before your conferment.

 

b. who wish to remain in Singapore beyond the STP expiry date.

 

  • You are required to have a Singpass account. If you currently do not have a Singpass account, you may visit here to set up your Singpass account.
  • You need to self-cancel your STP at least 5 days before your STP expiry date via ICA e-services portal and select “Cancellation of Student’s Pass”. Guide on how to apply for cancellation of Student’s Pass online can be downloaded here.

      • You will be able to retrieve the status of cancellation via ICA portal the next day. Short-Term Visit Pass will be embedded in cancellation outcome letter if you are still in Singapore at the point of cancellation.

       

      3. 

      Current Postgraduate Students

      a. whose STP expiry date is before your submission of Thesis.

      b. who wish to remain in Singapore beyond the STP expiry date.

      • You are required to have a Singpass account. If you currently do not have a Singpass account, you may visit here to set up your Singpass account.
      • You need to self-cancel your STP at least 5 days before your STP expiry date via ICA e-services portal and select “Cancellation of Student’s Pass”. Guide on how to apply for cancellation of Student’s Pass online can be downloaded here.

            • You will be able to retrieve the status of cancellation via ICA portal the next day. Short-Term Visit Pass will be embedded in cancellation outcome letter if you are still in Singapore at the point of cancellation.

             

            4.

            Current Students who wish to

            a. withdraw from NTU.

            b. convert to part time studies

            c. apply Leave of Absence1

            d. terminated from study; and

            e. Suspended from Study

            You are required to cancel your STP online if you have

            • Withdrawn from NTU
            • Converted to part time studies
            • Terminated your studies
            • Suspended from studies

            For students who are granted approved Leave of Absence1 (LOA), under the following conditions, you are required to cancel your STP online:

            Category of student Conditions
            UG / PG Coursework on Semester basisMore than 1 Semester
            PG Coursework on Trimester basisMore than 1 Trimester
            PG Research on Semester/Trimester basisMore than 3 months

                  5.

                  Non-Graduating (NG) / Exchange Students

                  Wish to remain in Singapore beyond the STP expiry date

                  • You are required to have a Singpass account. If you currently do not have a Singpass account, you may visit here to set up your Singpass account.
                  • You need to self-cancel your STP at least 5 days before your STP expiry date via ICA e-services portal and select “Cancellation of Student’s Pass”. Guide on how to apply for cancellation of Student’s Pass online can be downloaded here.

                        • You will be able to retrieve the status of cancellation via ICA portal the next day. Short-Term Visit Pass will be embedded in cancellation outcome letter if you are still in Singapore at the point of cancellation.

                        1 Note: Student who takes leave of absence during his/her school term to do additional industrial attachments, which do not contribute towards their graduation, will require a valid work pass. Please refer to MOM website for more information
