At Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Bachelor of Computing (Hons) in Computer Science with a Second Major in Sustainability programme is jointly offered by the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) and the Asian School of the Environment (ASE). This interdisciplinary degree equips students with strong technical foundations in computer science while deepening their understanding of global sustainability challenges and solutions.

The unique feature this programme lies in its powerful interdisciplinary approach, which integrates rigorous training in computing with a broad, holistic framework for understanding sustainability. This collaboration between the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) and the Asian School of the Environment (ASE) goes beyond a purely environmental focus, addressing sustainability through the five interconnected pillars of People, Planet, Profit, Practice, and Policy. The program uniquely positions students to use their technical skills to develop real-world, technology-based solutions for complex sustainability challenges, culminating in an interdisciplinary capstone project where they apply their knowledge to a specific issue. This hands-on, cross-disciplinary experience prepares graduates to innovate responsibly, drive positive change, and lead the charge toward a more sustainable future.

Applicants must meet NTU’s undergraduate admissions criteria, which include: 

  • Good academic results in GCE ‘A’ Levels, IB Diploma, NUS High School Diploma, or Polytechnic Diploma (or equivalent) 
  • strong foundation in Mathematics or Physics or Computing

The Computer Science programme is structured as a full-time, 4 year direct honours degree with a blend of core modules, electives, and projects, designed to provide strong foundations alongside applied skills.
