Introduction
The course focuses on the fundamental principles of electrical circuits, providing learners with a good understanding of both Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) circuit behaviour. This course will cover the circuit theorems, the usage of Laplace transforms in circuit analysis and the energy storage elements and transient responses. Learners will also be exposed to network functions and two-port networks, alternating current circuits and three-phase AC circuits. Emphasizing circuit behaviour over design, this course equips learners with practical analytical techniques for real-world circuit analysis and serves as a foundation for more advanced topics such as power networks. Learners will develop skills to analyse the performance and behaviour of electrical circuits, preparing them to engage with circuit operations in industries like power distribution and communication systems. Note: The part-time Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) will be discontinued from Academic Year 2026-2027 (i.e., August 2026). As a result, the progression pathway from the Specialist Certificate to the part-time Bachelor of Engineering in EEE will no longer be available.
