CPC0003 Knowing Myself as a Mentor
This course helps middle managers, coaches, team leaders, supervisors and people managers develop self-awareness as mentors by understanding the evolution and value of mentoring, and by identifying their personal mentoring style using the Mentor Roles Inventory (MRI). Participants will reflect on their experiences, beliefs, and strengths to become more intentional and effective mentors in the workplace, home, areas of influence and personal lives.
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Understand the evolution and importance of mentoring in professional and organizational contexts.
- Identify their personal mentoring style and its impact on mentees.
The course will cover the following areas:

Topic 2: Evolution of Mentoring
Topic 3: The Importance of Mentoring Today
Topic 4: Understanding Mentorship Styles
Topic 5: Knowing Myself as a Mentor
Topic 6: Application and Action Planning
Dr Sunny Sitoe is the Senior Assistant Director with the Office of Teacher Education & Undergraduate Programmes (TEUP) at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Dr Sitoe was a primary school teacher with the Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE). During his stint as a teacher, he was heavily involved in establishing the mentoring structure and programmes in the schools. His research interests include motivation, mentoring and teacher education. He is a member of the NIE’s Motivation in Educational Research Laboratory (MERL) and the Educational Research Association of Singapore (ERAS).
