NIE provides all levels of Teacher Education, from Initial Teacher Education Programmes to Professional Development Programmes for in-service teachers and executive leadership programmes for school leaders and practitioners. NIE also administers postgraduate programmes that lead to the award of higher degrees in Arts, Education, Physical Education and Science, and offers part-time programmes for current primary and early childhood level teachers to obtain a Bachelor of Education degree.

For those looking at sports-related careers, the Sport Science & Management (SSM) programme is a robust interdisciplinary undergraduate degree programme focusing on the scientific principles behind exercise and the human body along with the management of sport organisations. SSM is the only undergraduate programme offered by a local tertiary institute that provides academic and professional pathways to sport-related careers.
