Distilling Key Lessons to Shape Future-Ready Education

Moving into its fifth tranche (2023-2028), the research builds on the consolidation of lessons drawn from the connected classroom learning with real-world contexts and built 21st century competencies, to the examination of psychosocial and well-being factors that support lifelong learning. It also emphasises that teachers have a crucial role in shaping purposeful, future-focused learning. The insights help to continue establishing the strong educational fundamentals while embracing new tools, pedagogies and open mindsets as education priorities continue to change, the lessons from this tranche offer a steady foundation for future research, practice and policy.

This report builds on earlier NIE research that captured how teaching and learning have evolved over the years to prepare future-ready learners. Just as previous reports highlighted key insights from earlier phases of work from the first to third tranches, this latest report brings together the main lessons from the fourth phase of research. It connects what we have learned so far with ongoing efforts across Singapore’s education system and sets the stage for the next phase of research from 2023 to 2028.
