OER CRPP Innovations

This report consolidates research by the then-Office of Education Research (OER) and the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP) to explore how pedagogical innovations can take root in Singapore’s classrooms and schools and distils five key lessons about improving teaching and learning across the system. Anchored in an embodied and participatory learning epistemology, the report reframes reform efforts towards purposeful learning - learning that is life-long, life-wide, life-deep and life-wise.

Why the “5 Lessons” still matter today:
As education systems worldwide seek to nurture adaptable, future-ready learners, these lessons continue to guide schools in designing purposeful, learner-centred pedagogies. Grounded in NIE’s long-term research, the report remains a valuable reference for educators and policymakers committed to sustained pedagogical innovation.

Documented from a school and system improvement perspective, it emphasises that true educational change depends on teachers’ professional agency, leadership support, and the alignment between system goals and classroom practice.
