Master of Arts (by Research) Programme

Overview

The English Language and Literature department offers a program of study leading to the Master of Arts (MA) (Research) in the fields of Applied Linguistics, English Language/Literacy education, Literature, and Literature education. While our MA (Research) students are encouraged to develop broad research expertise, they cultivate a primary specialization in a chosen area.

Requirements

Applicants should have strong academic qualifications and the ability to pursue research in their proposed field of study.

Depending on their educational background and previous institutions, applicants may be required to submit additional documents, such as GRE, TOEFL, or IELTS scores. Detailed and up-to-date information on GRE and English language competency requirements can be found here.

 Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview as part of the selection process.

MA (Research) students may complete the program on a full-time or part-time basis. Information on candidature, coursework, the Qualifying Examination, and thesis requirements can be found here.
