The Global AI Nexus of Schools (GAINS) is a pioneering global initiative uniting educational institutions across the world. Founded in Singapore and officially launched on 4 August 2025, this is a first-of-its-kind collaboration across schools, institutes of higher learning and industry partners advances responsible, human-centred and values-driven AI in teaching and learning through ethical innovation and shared expertise.

Supported by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, a total of 23 schools from seven countries – including China, Japan and Estonia – have joined the network.

One of its key strategies is the formation of Intellectual Alliances -  Frontier-pilot projects with National Institute of Education (NIE), breaking down silos in ethical AI innovation. In this context A/P Chen Wenli spoke on “From AI to IA (Intelligence Augmentation: Human Centered AI for Education to Prepare Future Ready Learners” at the GAINS launch on 4 Aug.

Another key strategy for GAINS is the formation of Networked Learning Communities (NLCs) between schools from different countries tackling critical areas like AI and assessment reform, led by global thought leaders. A/P Kelvin Tan delivered a talk entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Assessment: Helps and Hindrances to Student Intelligence, Learning, and Wisdom” as part of the GAINS launch on 4 Aug 2025.

A/P Chen and A/P Tan look forward to lending their expertise in AI and Assessment in working collaboratively and internally with schools, teachers, researchers and thought leaders in GAINS.
