THE NIE NTU, SINGAPORE HOSTS THE REDESIGNING PEDAGOGY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2026 TO ADVANCE FUTURE-READY EDUCATION THROUGH RESEARCH, PRACTICE AND GLOBAL COLLABORATION
The National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NIE NTU, Singapore) will host the eleventh Redesigning Pedagogy International Conference (RPIC) 2026 from 2 June to 4 June 2026, with Minister for Education and Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration, Mr Desmond Lee as the Guest-of-Honour for the Conference Inauguration. As a flagship platform for education research and dialogue, RPIC 2026 continues its longstanding commitment to advancing rigorous scholarship and strengthening the nexus between research, policy and practice.
Centred on the theme of “Education Research for Impact”, the conference will bring together leading academics, policymakers, school leaders and practitioners from Singapore and across the globe to re-examine and reimagine pedagogical innovation in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving world. The conference will explore to foster robust conversations on how education systems can remain responsive, inclusive and future-oriented, while remaining grounded in strong theoretical and empirical foundations.
Building on more than two decades of impactful scholarship, RPIC 2026 is expected to convene over 1000 delegates from Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Participants can look forward to keynote addresses by distinguished international scholars, alongside paper presentations, symposiums, workshops and panel discussions across a wide range of strands. These include (but not limited to) emerging technologies in education, science of learning, assessment and evaluation, curriculum and policy studies, teacher professional development, language and literacy, and issues of equity, diversity and inclusion.
This year’s conference also introduces several new features designed to deepen engagement and broaden participation. On Day 2, the 4-track programme offers differentiated pathways for participants, including keynote masterclasses, research translation exchanges, practitioner-led innovations and research-informed initiatives. On Day 3, a plenary fireside chat will bring together voices from across the education community for an open and candid dialogue on key issues, while the unconference segment will provide a more informal, participant-driven space for discussion and idea-sharing on emerging topics.
Through interdisciplinary exchanges and multi-stakeholder engagement, RPIC 2026 will provide a dynamic platform for participants to explore innovative methodologies, share evidence-informed practices, and critically examine pressing educational challenges.
Professor Kenneth Poon, Dean of Research and Centre Director of the Centre for Research in Child Development, reflects that, “Education is ultimately about people, namely our students, educators, families and communities, and how we can better support them in a changing world. As schools and educators respond to new challenges and needs, research helps us better understand what works, for whom, and why. By bringing together researchers and educators from different backgrounds and experiences, we hope to encourage thoughtful discussions, meaningful exchange, and collaborations that can make a positive difference to education in Singapore and beyond.”
A hallmark of RPIC remains its emphasis on the synergy between research and practice – where empirical inquiry informs classroom innovation and classroom realities, which in turn, shape research trajectories. Theoretical-empirical collaborations, practitioner-led discussions, and system-level analyses will underscore the importance of cultivating robust education research capable of addressing both local priorities and global imperatives.
RPIC 2026 is organised by the Office for Research, NIE NTU, Singapore. Since its inception in 2005, RPIC has played an instrumental role in shaping international discourse on pedagogy and advancing evidence-based educational transformation.
