Education in the City: Promoting Thinking Skills in Children through Quality Interaction

On 22 March 2021, an Education in the City webinar on “Promoting thinking skills in children through quality interaction” was organised by the Office of Education Research, in collaboration with the National Library Board.

The speakers, Dr Nirmala Karuppiah, Head (Education) at the Centre for Research in Child Development, and Ms N. Pushpavalli, Principal of the Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Kindergarten, shared tips on promoting thinking skills in children through quality interactions with teachers and parents, such as moving away from telling to asking the child or providing instructional support for children in the classroom.

The session concluded with an engaging question and answer segment, moderated by Dr Yvonne Pek, lecturer at the National Institute of Early Childhood Development, and was attended by approximately 210 people.
