Asst Prof Yang Peidong Publishes Article on Immigrant Teachers in Singapore Schools

Asst Prof Yang Peidong from NIE’s Humanities and Social Studies Education Academic Group co-authored an article, titled “Immigrant Teachers in Singapore Schools: Backgrounds, Integration, and Diversification”, in HSSE Online.

In this paper, Asst Prof Yang describes the characteristics and experiences of immigrant teachers in mainstream Singapore primary and secondary schools as well as the challenges they face with respect to professional and social integration. He also explores the potential of immigrant teachers to enrich Singapore’s education system by contributing a diversity of perspectives and experiences.

The findings from this journal article arose from Asst Prof Yang’s OER-funded project “Immigrant Teachers in Singapore Schools: Trajectories, Identities, and Integration”.
