Centre for Assessment & Evaluation (CAE): Beyond the Boundaries of Assessment: Culture, Differentiation, and CCE Programme
On 14 April 2026, CAE and Educational Research Association of Singapore (ERAS) were delighted to conduct a webinar titled "Beyond the Boundaries of Assessment: Culture, Differentiation, and CCE Programme”, bringing together faulty and educators to explore innovative approaches to assessment in diverse learning contexts.
The session featured three speakers who shared insights on how assessment could move beyond traditional boundaries to better support learners.
- Dr. Roszalina Bte Rawi discussed how Assessment for Learning (AfL) practices are shaped by cultural values such as hierarchy, harmony, and humility, and highlighted the importance of culturally responsive assessment approaches.
- Dr. Durka Devi Palaraju explored the role of classroom assessment in supporting differentiated instruction, emphasising how it can be used to understand learners’ needs and inform inclusive teaching practices.
- Associate Professor Kelvin Tan Heng Kiat examined how feedback and structured dialogue in Citizenship and Character Education (CCE) can extend beyond performance to shape students’ identity, intrinsic motivation, and self-directed learning.
The event is part of CAE’s ongoing efforts to advance thought leadership in assessment and evaluation, supporting educators in designing more meaningful, inclusive, and context-responsive assessment practices.
