The writers, Dr Wong Lung Hsiang, a senior education research scientist at National Institute of Education (NIE), and Prof Looi Chee-Kit from NIE, discussed the changes that ChatGPT3 could bring to teachers. They opined that ChatGPT3 could become a teacher's assistant and brought up an example of how teachers could use the application in the crafting of lesson plans for primary school science classes. The writers opined that ChatGPT3 opened the possibility of new learning tasks; for instance, to improve information literacy for secondary school and university students, teachers could use ChatGPT3 to generate chapters related to course content and distribute them to students to comment on or to search for the source of the information. However, the writers also noted that although text content generated by ChatGPT3 had high accuracy rates, random errors in the text were also a possibility. The writers also noted that if teachers wanted to use ChatGPT3 for work, they had to be clear on the appropriate teaching methods and input the correct prompts so that ChatGPT3 could generate more applicable teaching materials. They also believed that while teachers should not be in a rush to incorporate it at work, they should also not completely avoid its use and that it was necessary to further look into ChatGPT3 and understand how best the technology can be leveraged at work.
