The writer referred to an earlier forum letter "Learning Chinese is actually not difficult" (ZB, 28/3) and noted that there were challenges in learning any language. The writer opined that learning Chinese through songs was effective as he had picked up new words by listening to Mandarin pop songs himself, and suggested for teachers to incorporate it in Chinese lessons so that students could learn the correct pronunciations in a relaxed environment. The writer hoped that MOE and Chinese language teachers would be open to try out more flexible and innovative teaching methods to motivate students to learn Chinese. The author shared his experience while taking his Master's Degree at NIE on why it was still necessary to learn about Chinese Classical Literature. He reflected that the need of aesthetic psychology is the value of existence.
