OER Hosts Webinar on Singapore Student Learning Space

The Office of Education Research (OER) hosted a webinar titled “Transformative Use of Technology – Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS)” on 29 July 2020. This webinar is part of an on-going partnership between OER and the Education Technology Division (ETD) in the Ministry of Education, Singapore. The webinar attracted over 80 attendees, comprising researchers from the National Institute of Education.

Dr David Huang, Assoc Dean (Research Administration and Support) at OER, started the webinar by providing an overview of the partnership and the upcoming ideation sessions taking place at the end of the year.

The speaker, Mr Chia Hai Siang, Lead Specialist at ETD, started the presentation with an introduction to SLS. He shared that the SLS portal aims to provide all students from different backgrounds with equal access to quality curriculum-aligned resources, and also serves as a common platform for teachers to share pedagogical knowledge and ideas. Mr Chia also provided an overview of the data collected in SLS and how these data can be used for research conducted at NIE.

The webinar concluded with a question and answer session facilitated by Mr Kom Mun Siong and Ms Adeline Goh from ETD. The questions raised included the accessibility of the SLS portal and the upcoming developments about the SLS platform
