Dr Karen Khor co-publishes a journal article in the International Journal of Information and Learning Technology

Dr Karen Khor Ean Teng, Education Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), co-publishes a journal article titled "Learning analytics techniques: an overview and future research possibilities" in the International Journal of Information and Learning Technology. The journal article synthesises findings from 63 studies to outline commonly used learning analytics techniques, highlight research gaps, and suggest future directions. Frequently applied techniques include classification, content analysis, social network analysis, taxonomic mapping, and the increasingly popular multimodal learning analytics. Key gaps include methodological limitations, adaptability challenges, ethical and privacy concerns, and the need for clearer methodological terminology. The review emphasises that technique selection should align with both the research questions and the nature of the data.
