Dr Kenneth Y T Lim co-authors a paper in the Asian Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice Dr Kenneth Y T Lim, and Research Associate from NIE’s Mathematics and Mathematics Education Academic Group Mr Koh Hon Jia, have successfully co-authored a paper on the nature of learning in maker culture, published in the Asian Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Titled 'A reflection on maker-centred learning in an undergraduate elective course’, the paper was written by Dr Lim and his team, together with Mr Koh as the second author.

The paper describes Mr Koh’s documentation of the nature of the learning processes which he observed during the General Elective AGE08D Designing Learning Environments with the Internet of Things, an elective module offered by Dr Lim and his team each semester at the National Institute of Education.

The paper reports on a subset of Mr Koh’s documentation and research, which he worked on as part of his PhD thesis that is jointly supervised by Dr Lim and Prof David Hung, Dean of Education Research at NIE.

His thesis, titled 'A Study of the Development of Interest in Learning in a Maker-centered Learning Environment through the lens of Cultural-Historical Activity Theory’, has passed independent review by a panel of external examiners.
