Reports noted that a total of 834 students graduated from NIE at NTU to become full-time teachers. NIE would be holding graduation ceremonies from 12/7 to 13/7, with Min/MOE kicking off the first graduation ceremony. 37 graduates received awards for their outstanding performance, with ten of them winning more than one award. Berita Harian featured Amira Tajudin, who switched career from banking to teacher because of her desire for a meaningful career. Her mother and sister's daily experiences as pre-school and primary school teachers are always different and this inspired her to become a teacher like them.
