Assistant Professor Victor Lim Fei speaks at nine events on multimodality, with two being a keynote speaker

Asst Prof Victor Lim Fei, from NIE’s English Language and Literature Academic Group (ELL AG), was invited to speak at nine events from March 2022 to July 2022 on multimodality, where he was the keynote speaker for two of those events. 

He was invited by the British Council Indonesia to be the keynote speaker for the webinar titled “Strategies for Teaching Multimodal Literacy” held on 5 March 2022, where he shared on the what, why and how of teaching multimodal literacy. You can watch the full webinar video here. 

He also presented at the Bremen-Groningen Online Workshops on Multimodality on 1 April 2022, organised by the University of Bremen, Germany and University of Groningen, Netherlands. His presentation titled “Assessing Multimodal Literacy – The Stake of Testing”, talks about findings from his multi-phased research project and discusses the extent to which multimodal literacy is assessed in the international PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) and PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) tests. 

Asst Prof Lim was the keynote speaker at the “Designing for Teaching Multimodal Literacy” webinar, organised by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Association of Language Teacher (KSAALT-TESOL) on 8 April 2022. He was also invited to speak at ELL AG’s webinar titled “Teaching Multimodal Literacy” on 4 June 2022. Later that month, he was invited by National Taipei University of Education, Taiwan to present on “Designing Learning with Multimodality” on 30 June 2022. Organised by the Taipei City High School and Taiwan Ministry of Education, Asst Prof Lim was invited to speak at the Teaching English in English/Bilingual Subject Teaching Project. On 1 July 2022, he gave two presentations on “Designing for English language learning with multimodality in high schools” and “Designing for English language learning with multimodality in primary schools”. On 5 July 2022, he then spoke on “Multimodality for bilingual learning in high schools” and “Multimodality for bilingual learning in primary schools”.
