My experience at NIE has been intellectually rewarding and supportive. The programme offers a strong interdisciplinary foundation, combining educational theory with advanced data science techniques. I have greatly benefited from the guidance of experienced faculty members and the collaborative learning environment. The resources and research opportunities available have allowed me to deepen my expertise and contribute meaningfully to the field.

Pursuing a PhD in the English Language and Literature department at NIE has been an intellectually enriching journey. With a focus on literacy and literature, the programme has deepened my understanding of critical theory, literary inquiry, and the evolving landscapes of reading and writing. I’ve greatly benefited from the mentorship of dedicated faculty, whose guidance has been both rigorous and encouraging. The academic environment fosters rich dialogue and interdisciplinary exploration, which has helped sharpen my research focus and broaden my perspectives. This programme has not only advanced my scholarly development but also reaffirmed my commitment to impactful, literacy-based educational practice.

My PhD journey at NIE has been deeply enriching. HSSE labs have great software and equipment. The administrative support is stellar—everything runs smoothly thanks to the highly efficient and dedicated staff. The campus itself is very conducive: green and serene with breezy architecture. The NIE Library stands out as the most scenic I’ve encountered, with outstanding facilities and staff that foster focus, and useful collaborative spaces too. I’m deeply grateful to my supervisor Assoc Prof Edward Park, co-supervisor Wang Jingyu, and my Thesis Advisory Committee—Prof Chang Chew Hung and Assoc Prof Yun Sang-Ho—for their invaluable guidance and insight.

I am enrolled in PhD programme at NIE PESS. My studying experience at NIE has been great: welcoming, intellectually-stimulating, and fulfilling. I look forward to the remaining years of my PhD at NIE.

Pursuing a PhD in Education at the Psychology and Child & Human Development (PCHD) department at the National Institute of Education has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have made. Throughout the programme, I had the privilege of learning from outstanding professors, including my supervisors, as well as engaging with insightful peers. In particular, conducting an in-depth study under effective and passionate guidance helped me discover the true value of educational intervention research. The opportunities for collaboration with peers and professors on publications have also been an invaluable part of my journey.

Everything can be wrapped up in just two words: VERY GOOD :)

My experience in the NTU-NIE PhD programme is an impressive learning journey. I am thankful to have a highly experienced supervisor, Dr Veni Kong, who helped shaped my perspectives and writing approaches in academia. Apart from that, I must highlight the strength of NIE's direction in promoting lifelong learning and continuous learning among students, a culture that identifies with Singapore.

My time at NIE has been incredibly valuable and enriching. Conversations with my supervisors, Prof. David Hung and Dr. David Huang, my mentor, A/P Victor Chen, and TAC members, A/P Kelvin Tan and Prof Winstone, have been both inspiring and transformative. Their advice and personal stories have significantly shaped my perspective, deepening my appreciation for the diverse philosophies, approaches, and methodologies in education research. I am also very grateful for the financial support from NTU's RSS and the encouragement from the LSA faculty, which have given me the confidence to pursue my research interests. The unique opportunities provided by GPL, such as leading a graduate student conference and presenting internationally, have broadened my exposure to other research-related activities. My experience at NIE has been pivotal for my personal and professional growth, and I am truly thankful for it!

My experience in the graduate programme at NIE has been incredibly rewarding. The programme not only deepened my academic expertise but also significantly enhanced my research and professional skills. With outstanding support from experienced faculty, I had ample opportunities to engage in meaningful educational research and collaborative projects. The dynamic, interdisciplinary environment encouraged me to explore innovative approaches to education, particularly in leveraging technology for language and literacy learning. NIE's strong emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and practical application has undoubtedly prepared me well for future academic and professional endeavors, making this journey truly enriching and inspiring.

Enrolling in the PhD programme in Learning Sciences and Assessment at NIE has been both demanding and inspiring. Rigorous coursework, access to cutting-edge multimodal learning analytics facilities, and a culture of open inquiry allowed me to investigate AI-supported peer feedback and publish in high-impact journals—research now recognised by this award. I owe special gratitude to my supervisor, A/P Chen Wenli, whose meticulous feedback and encouragement trained me to write with clarity and think as an independent scholar. I also thank all my co-authors whose insights and commitment enriched every study we completed together.

NIE was my top choice to enrol in a graduate programme because of the faculty support I was confident in receiving. I owe the success of my academic journey thus far to my supervisor A/P Suzanne Choo and the other faculty I have met who have supported, advised, and advocated for me in many ways. I am deeply grateful for my time in NIE. 

My study experience in NIE was one that strongly shaped my beliefs about education and current research interests. The numerous opportunities to engage with fellow students and NIE researchers about the topic I am passionate about and listening to their critical yet supportive views reaffirmed that my decision to enrol was the right one.

My experience in the PhD programme at NIE has been rewarding and edifying. I have been privileged to work under the professional guidance of A/P Angelia Poon, whose mentorship has been instrumental in shaping my academic journey. I am also grateful to the faculty members of the English Language and Literature (ELL) department for their valuable insights and support, which have enhanced my research in literature education significantly. The camaraderie and encouragement from my fellow graduate students have further enriched this journey. Given this collaborative and supportive learning environment, NIE has provided me with a solid foundation to grow as a researcher and educator.

My graduate studies in Applied Linguistics at NIE have been an intellectually rewarding journey, particularly in the field of language assessment under the expert guidance of Dr. Vahid Aryadoust. The programme equipped me with rigorous research methodologies and practical insights into language testing, enabling me to present at international conferences—where I was honored to receive a Best Paper Award. NIE’s dynamic academic environment, combined with Dr. Aryadoust’s mentorship, fostered both my analytical skills and confidence as a researcher. The blend of theory, hands-on projects, and global networking opportunities has profoundly shaped my expertise and career trajectory. An unparalleled experience!

The graduate programme has been a richly rewarding experience, offering well-structured and insightful modules that deepened my understanding of educational theory and research methodology. A particularly valuable component has been the fortnightly meetings with fellow graduate students, organised by my supervisor. These sessions provided a supportive platform to present our research-in-progress and engage with peers’ work. Alternating between presenter and audience fostered perspective-taking and critical reflection, enhancing our scholarly engagement. Additionally, these sessions broadened our exposure to diverse areas of literature, as we gained insight into the frameworks and references informing our peers’ studies, enriching our own academic grounding.

As a PhD student at NIE, I had the valuable opportunity to pursue my research interests in Spintronics. The support and guidance of my PhD supervisor has been instrumental in my success in research and the completion of my degree. I am truly grateful for the wonderful time and learning journey at NIE, that I will always cherish.

With a research focus on sport psychology, I’ve had the opportunity to explore the intersection of motivation, behavior, and performance in depth. The programme provides strong academic support, access to cutting-edge resources, and a collaborative environment that encourages critical thinking and innovation. My supervisors are highly knowledgeable and supportive, guiding me to refine my research and grow as an independent scholar. Enrolling in the PhD program in Sports Science at NIE has been transformative. The comprehensive curriculum and supportive faculty have significantly broadened my understanding of sports science. This program has propelled my career in sports drink R&D, equipped me with skills in human clinical trials, and deepened my knowledge of nutrition and its application in human performance. Combining insights from sports science, nutrition, and food technology, I've been able to enhance athlete performance and apply these learnings to real-world scenarios. I highly recommend this program to anyone passionate about advancing their expertise in sports nutrition.

I am Xu Huimin, a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). During my PhD studies, I have greatly benefited from the comprehensive coursework at NIE, which has significantly enhanced my research capabilities. NIE offers students abundant opportunities to engage with distinguished scholars and researchers from around the world. The faculty, peer researchers, and staff are consistently supportive, kind, and professional. With their systematic training and guidance, I have grown from a master’s student into a budding researcher. As one of the leading institutions in education, NIE enjoys a world-renowned reputation in teacher training and educational research. It actively fosters international collaboration and generously supports research students in attending academic conferences.

Studying for a Master's of Applied Linguistics at the National Institute of Education (NIE) has been an enriching journey that exceeded my expectations. Supportive faculty and a vibrant peer community fostered my collaborative learning and intellectual growth. This programme not only enhanced my expertise in language teaching,  but also ignited my passion for academic research.

I got my MA in Applied Linguistics from NIE. NIE gifted me many unforgettable firsts: my first published paper, my first experience studying abroad, my first time attending a Dean’s talk, etc. All the professors I met were kind, knowledgeable, and responsible. It was one of the greatest experience in my life.
