Overview

The Semester@NIE is an excellent opportunity for any university (with no exchange agreement with us) to provide their top students with an overseas stint. At NIE, they will learn more about our education system and experience how we prepare teachers for different disciplines. The degree will still be conferred by their home university, but this stint will give them a chance to broaden their undergraduate experience.

For international students from ASEAN, NIE Singapore is offering NIE ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships (Semester) to Year 2 or 3 undergraduate ASEAN students. For international students from ASEAN who are keen to find out more about Semester@NIE, please contact us at [email protected].

All inbound students coming to NIE must be nominated by their home university. Nominated students must be a full-time, matriculated student in one of NIE’s partner institutions; and have completed at least two semesters of study at their home university prior to acceptance into NIE inbound programmes, with proof of results.

Nominated students must have an average B grade or equivalent.

If you have any queries, please check with your home universities coordinator(s).

Successful candidates for NIE inbound programme will have the privilege to attend a one-day orientation and sight-seeing organised by the NIE Students' Clubs. 

As an NIE inbound student, you are also ambassadors of your home university and country. Hence, you are expected to maintain the good name of the institute and country.

  • You are expected to abide by the laws of Singapore, as well as abide by the rules and regulations of the host school or/and NIE.
  • In accepting the offer for this  Exchange, you are also consenting to securing your own finances to pay for the costs associated with this exchange. 
  • You may be called upon to share your experiences after completion of the NIE inbound programmes.

NIE Singapore is offering up to 5 NIE ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships (Semester) per year per ASEAN country. This is to enable the scholarship to benefit students in as many countries as possible. Recipients of the Semester@NIE Scholarship are sponsored for their semester fees and a stipend for a semester. For any queries, please email to [email protected].
