Lianhe Zaobao noted that teachers would be trained to employ artificial intelligence (AI) as technology became more common in the classrooms and the daily lives of students. Under a new five-year plan called AI@NIE, topics about AI in education would be offered for trainee teachers at all levels by 2026. NIE would also invest in research and innovation to use AI for education. NIE Director Christine Goh said the programme, launched on 25/5, was the culmination of a study on how AI could be used in Singapore's education system. ZB interviewed Asst Prof John Komar who shared that even though adding cameras in the classrooms may seem that it is invading privacy, but when these technologies are used properly, it could help teachers improve their teaching materials to better help the students improve.
