西南区佳节献爱心8000弱势家庭获礼包
Lianhe Zaobao highlighted a collaborative effort involving businesses, community partners, and over 5,000 students from higher education institutions and schools in the southwest region. Together, they joined forces to deliver gift bags and greeting cards to 8,000 disadvantaged families, spreading the joy of celebrating the festival. Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Low Yenling, shared, "This year, students from nine primary schools crafted greeting cards filled with motivational quotes for underprivileged families in the district, aiming to uplift their spirits. Students and staff from NTU and the National Institute of Education played a crucial role in packaging and distributing the festive gifts, thoughtfully chosen by the beneficiary families to convey warmth and love."
企业、社区伙伴以及超过5000名来自西南区高等学府和学校的学生合力为8000户弱势家庭送上礼包与贺卡，共享欢庆佳节的喜悦。
“欢庆佳节在西南”活动星期六（12月2日）由贸工部兼文化、社区及青年部政务部长刘燕玲主持启动仪式。刘燕玲也是西南区市长。
为期三个月的活动从今年12月进行至明年2月，由企业、社区伙伴和志愿者共同为8000个西南区的弱势家庭带来节庆礼包。
此外，每个节庆礼包内有一张贺卡，卡片由社区的志愿团体设计，九所小学的学生手写鼓励话语。60多名来自南洋理工大学和国立教育学院的员工、校友和学生志愿者也将参与包装和分发这些节庆礼包。
也是西海岸集选区议员的国家发展部长李智陞受邀出席启动仪式。启动仪式上，李智陞与刘燕玲也与志愿者一同为60户文礼区的家庭送上节庆礼包。
刘燕玲说，很高兴能够看到许多企业和社区伙伴年复一年支持这项活动，致力改善和丰富居民生活。
“今年有来自九所小学的学生，给区内的弱势家庭制作了充满激励名言的贺卡，为他们打气加油。南大和国立教育学院的学生和员工协助包装和分发受益家庭心目中的佳节礼物，表达温暖和爱心。
“这项集体努力凸显了西南区是一个互助、包容、和充满关爱的社区。希望更多居民加入我们的行列，在此佳节之际，同献爱心、共庆佳节。”
