The editorial noted the benefits of good reading habits. The editor shared that the emergence of the COVID-19 Omicron variant has deterred some people from traveling abroad. During this long school holiday, parents may wish to cultivate good reading habits for themselves and their children, as it would improve their knowledge and promote good mental health. The editor opined that parents should seize the opportunity to continue to strengthen their children's reading habits. He highlighted that NTU NIE Centre for Research in Child Development had conducted a study last year on reading habits of primary school students during the circuit breaker period and found that many children were reading during that period as their activities were curtailed. Reading also allowed them to relax and not think about the virus.
